Comme des Garçons was founded by Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo in 1969. SSFW documents 72 menswear collections, 1991–2026; a concrete marker is the 1997 "Body Meets Dress, Dress Meets Body" collection, with its padded, lumpy silhouettes that became widely cited as a house code.
